Felici Sock Yarn

I don’t know about you but I’ve always been intimidated by self striping sock yarn. It seemed like yet another item that excluded crocheters, but that’s not the case.

WeCrochet graciously let me create with the re-release of some of their colors.

There are a few benefits to working with self striping yarn

  • Easy color changes without the ends!

Match any of your favorite colorways with a neutral yarn and let the yarn do the work for you.

  • Planned pooling
So this was all the rage in 2018 and frankly, I never got it to work. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t. There are tons of resources for color pooling out there.

  • Unique finished object

As crafters we often try to manipulate the yarn to our will but sometimes it’s nice to just let it live it’s best life. I took this approach when creating with Felici.

This Felici yarn by KnitPicks/WeCrochet has made a believer out of me!
It also comes in a worsted weight if you are looking for an even speedier project.

Pattern

Yarn: Felici Fingering by WeCrochet
Fiber Details: 75% Superwash Merino Wool , 25% Nylon, 218 yards

Yardage: 436 yards

Tools:
4.5 mm hook - I used this one from Furls!
Darning Needle
Scissors

Gauge: 16 stitches x 10 rows

Abbreviations:
fdc: Foundation Double Crochet
dc: Double Crochet
yo: Yarn over
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain

Special Stitches:
puff: Puff stitch - * YO, pull up a loop, * repeat * * 3 times, YO, pull through 9 loops, ch 1.

Notes: This pattern is written in joined rounds and in a freehand style. Puff stitches are introduced at each color change and this stitch count can vary based on the skein. I recommend starting the project at the beginning of a color change. Sit back relax and let the yarn tell you what to do.

Instructions:
Set up:
fdc 112, slip stitch into first fdc. Be careful not to twist the starting row.
Row 1: ch 3, *dc until color change, puff, * repeat until the end of the row, sl st into the third chain of the starting chain.

Row 2 - 33: Repeat Row 1.

Fasten off.

Wear and be fabulous!

Did you make this? Awesome I wanna see it! Tag it with #RusticCabinCowl and #knotbadbritt so I can see them!

XOXO,

Britt
