4.5 mm hook
darning needle
scissors

  • This pattern uses tapestry crochet techniques and assumes a basic understand of this technique.

  • Instructions are written in shorthand indicating how many stitches of each color are required for each row using ‘r’ for red, ‘g’ for green, and ‘w’ for white.

Instructions 

Ch 30. Sc in second ch from the hook, sc. ch 1. Turn.

Row 1 - 4: sc 29. Ch 1. Turn.

Attach red yarn. 

Row 5: G 1, R 2, G 23, R 2, G 1. Ch 1. Turn

Row 6: G 2, R 2, G 21, R 2, G 2. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 7: G 3, R 2, G 19, R 2, G 3. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 8: G 3, R 3, G 17, R 3, G 3. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 9: G 4, R 4, G 13, R 4, G 4. Ch 1. Turn. Place stitch marker.

Row 10: G 5, R 3, G 13, R 3, G 5. Ch 1. Turn. Place stitch marker.

Row 11: G 5, R 19, G 5. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 12: G 6, R 17, G 6. Ch 1. Turn

Row 13: G 6, R 17, G 6. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 14: G 7, R 15, G 7. Ch 1. Turn.

Drop red yarn. Attach white yarn. 

Row 30: G 14, W 1, G 14. Ch 1. Turn.

Row 32: G 13, W 3, G 13. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 33: G 13, W 3, G 13. Ch 1. Turn. 

Row 34: G 14, W 1, G 14. Ch 1. Turn. 

Fasten off white yarn. 

Row 35 - 38: G 29. 

Fasten off green. 

 

Finishing

Cut 28 5 inch long strands of white yarn for fringe. 

Apply one strand of fringe to the interior green stitches in the rows marked with stitch markers. 

Trim fringe. 

Lightly block square. 

Weave in ends.
