It’s no surprise that Christmas trees are going up earlier and earlier each year. 2020 is no different. With the way this year has shaken out, lengthening the Christmas season has brought a bit of joy to my house. I wanted to create something that we could use each year without worrying about the theme of the tree. Yes, I change the theme of my tree every other year! I created this Modern Bobble Holiday Tree Skirt knowing that if there are two things that are never going out of style it’s bobbles and cozy vibes!

WeCrochet Brava 500 in White

My friends at WeCrochet were gracious enough to provide yarn for this project. I chose Brava Worsted 500. A wonderful worsted weight acrylic yarn that comes in a HUGE skein of 1050 yards. Me not being a fan of weaving in ends, made this an easy choice. Brava Worsted 500 is available in 12 colors ranging from soft pastels to rich jewel tones and bold primary colors. It is a very good choice for a larger project like a blanket or a garment. It has little to know sheen which typically keeps me away from acrylic yarns. I found working with it easy and it maintained decent stitch definition. Brava 500 is $10.99 which is basically a steal.

WeCrochet Fable Fur in Bjern

To give this project some umpf incorporated a faux fur border with WeCrochet’s Fable Fur. I’ll be honest, I was skeptical of using a faux fur yarn. Knowing that the stitches are hard to see and hearing that they often shed I was a bit gun shy to try it. In the end I’m glad I did because WeCrochet’s faux fur DOES NOT shed! It is very soft and fluffy. Yes, the stitches can be difficult to see but they are easy to feel and that makes it easy to work with. Fable Fur comes in 15 (WOW) on trend colors! THey range in natural fur hues to fun fun pinks and blues. For my project, I chose the Bjern colorway. A sandy brown to ivory color way that incorporated an ombre fade from root to tip. It provides a multi dimensional depth to the yarn.
