CAL Designer Spotlight: Yarn Andy

Andrea of Yarn Andy is modeling her Poiana Wrap.

One of the best parts of hosting a CAL is inviting your friends along to join in the fun. Before we jump into the CAL I wanted to take a moment to introduce each of the designers involved in the CAL and share their eligible designs for the event.

If you are new here, you can find the information about the CAL here.

Get to know Yarn Andy

Andrea Crețu is the designer behind Yarn Andy! Her portfolio includes over 60 Tunisian crochet and crochet designs using a variety of weights and yardages. Some of my favorite collections of hers include beautiful ways to use yarn gradients, like Scheepjes Whirls, with patterns like The Blackberry Pudding Shawl and The Callatis Shawl. She also specializes in Tunisian Crochet Lace. I am really intrigued by her Wheat Fields Shawl. A beautiful wrap inspired by fields of wheat and Shetland Lace.

In addition to Andrea being a phenomenal and versatile designer, she is also a fountain of knowledge for aspiring and established designers. Her blog is a wonderful resource for anyone wanting to know more about accessibility, grading, and design tips. She even offers a few services for designers, including chart and schematic making. Identifying herself as having an overly analytical mind ensures that Andrea’s patterns are detailed & clear, whether simple or intricate.

You can find Andrea’s patterns on Ravelry, Payhip, Etsy & her Website.

Mini Skein CAL Details

We will begin our CAL on 1/1 and it will end 2/11. This will give you 6 weeks to complete your project. Now is the time to start thinking about what design you would like to complete.

Where

This event will take place on my Discord Server. If you are already a member you can go to the RoleSelect channel to add CAL participant to your role. If you are new to my Discord server, you will be prompted to select your primary craft and indicate that you are joining the CAL.

why

Because if you’re anything like me, you have far more mini skeins than what you know what to do with! Maybe you bought a countdown box and it didn’t have a pattern included, maybe the pattern included wasn’t to your liking, or maybe…you bought minis with reckless abandon all year long without a project in mind. Whatever the reason, those minis are languishing unused doesn’t matter. What matters is that we put them to good use!

so what’s next?

Over the next few days you will be introduced to all of the designers participating in the CAL. I can’t wait to share who I’ve partnered with! Make sure you are a subscriber to my newsletter to stay updated on what is going on with the CAL.

For now, start gathering your minis and dream of color combinations for your next masterpiece!
