CAL Designer Spotlight: Detroit Knots

Natalie of Detroit Knots is modeling her Flipdana Cowl.

One of the best parts of hosting a CAL is inviting your friends along to join in the fun. Before we jump into the CAL I wanted to take a moment to introduce each of the designers involved in the CAL and share their eligible designs for the event.

If you are new here, you can find the information about the CAL here.

Get to know Detroit Knots

Natalie of DetroitKnots is a designer specializing in Tunisian crochet and crochet. Her catalog contains both garments and accessories for a range of skill levels.

Natalie’s design work supports her desire to get more crafters to enjoy the beauty of Tunisian crochet and help crochet reach craft equality with knit.

In addition to designing, she teaches Tunisian crochet techniques. She is a regular teacher with Vouge Knitting Virtual and will be at Vouge Knitting Live in NYC early next year! I have my eyes on her Tunisian Cables Class and her Tunisian Crochet Color Work class, they look spectacular!

You can find more of Natalie’s designs on Ravelry and Etsy. She has also been published through KnitCrate, CrochetNow, Interweave, WeCrochet, and was the crochet designer in residence for Yarn Yay.

Keep up with Natalie:

Mini Skein CAL Details

We will begin our CAL on 1/1 and it will end 2/11. This will give you 6 weeks to complete your project. Now is the time to start thinking about what design you would like to complete.

Where

This event will take place on my Discord Server. If you are already a member you can go to the RoleSelect channel to add CAL participant to your role. If you are new to my Discord server, you will be prompted to select your primary craft and indicate that you are joining the CAL.

why

Because if you’re anything like me, you have far more mini skeins than what you know what to do with! Maybe you bought a countdown box and it didn’t have a pattern included, maybe the pattern included wasn’t to your liking, or maybe…you bought minis with reckless abandon all year long without a project in mind. Whatever the reason, those minis are languishing unused doesn’t matter. What matters is that we put them to good use!

so what’s next?

Over the next few days you will be introduced to all of the designers participating in the CAL. I can’t wait to share who I’ve partnered with! Make sure you are a subscriber to my newsletter to stay updated on what is going on with the CAL.

For now, start gathering your minis and dream of color combinations for your next masterpiece!
